Army must clear position on Musharraf: Khursheed

ISLAMABAD: Leader of opposition in the National Assembly Khurshid Shah on Monday urged the army to state its position on Pervez Musharraf’ claim that silence can be misconstrued as consent. Speaking to media in the Parliament House Shah said that Pervez Musharraf tried to act smart while claiming to have army’s support in the treason case. “If army is not with Musharraf, it should rebuff his statement,” he demanded. About the rallies against inflation in the country, he said that Shahbaz Sharif used to lead rallies against load shedding and now he is ordering baton-charge on these rallies. On cleric Tahirul Qadri’s proposed long march he said that the Punjab government would never allow the long march to set off and that it would remain confined to Lahore. He also talked about talks with the Taliban and said that the government was begging for talks with the militants but they were not forthcoming. “Taliban are not willing for talks as the government is weak,” he opined.
