HEC allocates Rs 2.507bn for universities in the last 5 years



ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has allocated Rs 2.507 billion for different programmes of the public sector universities for research purposes during the last five years. The official sources informed that under the National Research Programme for Universities (NRPU), the total funds allocated to the public sector universities for research purposes during the last five years are Rs 2.507 billion. Under the International Strategic Partnerships in Research and Education (INSPIRE), the Higher Education Commission in collaboration with the British Council of Pakistan launched the INSPIRE Programme on May 10, 2010 for the fiscal year 2010-11. A total of sixteen projects from different universities were supported under the subject programme. To ensure the proper utilisation of the funds for the research purposes, an annual report of each case undergoes a process. Scimago, an independent research organisation and an international evaluation and ranking platform, analyses the scientific outputs of the institutions and countries and monitors over 30,000 journals, is considered one of the most credible databases in the field of research.
