Punjab to get CNG seven days a week

ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Saturday announced to provide CNG to masses seven days a week in Punjab from April 1, but only for six hours from 10am to 4pm, except Sundays when the cheaper fuel will be available for 18 hours from 6am to 12am. Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi told media after a seminar that decision to reduce duration of gas load shedding in Sindh would be announced by next week. He said the decision would help owners of 3.5 million CNG-run vehicles. The minister said that gas imports would start before the end of current year improving overall situation while the gap between demand and supply would be bridged totally within five years. He said the gap between demand and supply of the natural gas would not have worsened had the former governments taken it seriously. He said the federal government had taken the decision to restore supply of CNG to mitigate the sufferings of people and to salvage world’s biggest CNG industry.
