PPP urge Punjab govt to take notice of threats to Bilawal

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) office-bearers have demanded the Punjab government to take notice of the threats to the patron-in-chief of the party from the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ). Talking to media personnel after offering fateha at the place of martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto on Saturday, PPP Divisional President Raja Imran Ashraf, Punjab Bar Council (PBC) member Haji Gulzar Awan, City President Aamir Fida Paracha and other office-bearers said that the Punjab government should take notice of the threats to Bilawal seriously and added that the provincial government would be responsible for any terror bid against him. They said that despite security threats, the PPP patron-in-chief would not cancel his visit to Punjab as the leadership of their party had sacrificed for democracy, country and its people in the past. The PPP leaders said that their party was trying to create awareness among the masses at grassroots level so that they are able to decide about their future on their own. Speaking on the occasion, PPP office-bearers criticised the poor governance of the sitting government and said that poverty, unemployment and other crises have made the life of a common man, miserable. They said that the PPP’s five-year tenure was an ideal era for the poor as they had shelter, two times’ meal with dignity and honour, of which they have been deprived now. They added that the sitting government is concentrating on mega-projects instead of taking steps to remove the grievances of the people, while such projects have no direct link to the lives of the poor.
