Police team set up to ‘arrest’ Musharraf

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad police have constituted a four-member team to arrest and bring former military ruler General (r) Pervez Musharraf to the special court holding his trial for high treason on Monday if he fails to turn up voluntarily.
The police team is headed by SP City Mustansar Feroz and includes station house officers of three different police stations of the federal capital among others. The team will go to the CMH in Rawalpindi, where Musharraf is ‘hospitalised’, on 31st of March and will arrest him as per court orders if he refuses to show up voluntarily.
The special court hearing the high treason case had issued non-bailable arrest warrants of Pervez Musharraf after he failed to appear in court despite repeated orders. Almost all petitions filed by Musharraf have already been dismissed by the special court and he is expected to be indicted on March 31.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad chief commissioner held a meeting and discussed the security arrangements for March 31. The meeting decided that about 2000 security personnel would be deputed on the route from CMH to the special court.
