Negotiations must be ‘time-bound’

ISLAMABAD: Leader of the opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah on Wednesday threw his weight behind the government’s renewed bid to hold talks with Pakistani Taliban, but said negotiations must be time-bound. Speaking on the floor of assembly after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s announcement to pursue the path of talks, Shah, who belongs to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), assured the government of his party’s cooperation if it tries to resolve the terrorism issue through talks. However he said that the process should be time-bound and should ensure that militants do not carry out terrorist attacks during this period, as they had done earlier in response to dialogue offer. “We would not do politics on the issue of terrorism,” Shah assured the prime minister.
