ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday welcomed the government’s decision to hold talks with the Pakistani Taliban and urged that that they be “open”. Reacting to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s announcement, he said that the speech had brought clarity on certain things which have been shrouded in confusion. “I welcome your statement and constitution of the committee. But I assume that the dialogue should be open,” he said and demanded that nation should be kept abreast of the dialogue process through media. He also welcomed Nawaz’s decision to himself oversee the dialogue process. Imran suggested that the militant groups that do not want dialogue must be isolated, while those with positive thinking should be approached. He also rejected the notion that those who want to pursue peace talks are pro-Taliban.
