Lawyers’ holidays causing delay in justice

ISLAMABAD: Holidays in courts are causing delay in delivery of justice while litigants are facing problems as just one or two benches are available to hear cases in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and district courts as well.“Justice delayed is Justice denied” a legal maxim can be quoted perfectly in these days because some cases could not be heard on time due to unavailability of lawyers and courts in the month of August. This principle is the basis for the right to a speedy trial and similar rights which are meant to expedite the legal system, because it is unfair for the injured party to sustain the injury with little hope for resolution, Bilal Ahmed Mahar, senior Advocate High Court (HC) said.If any litigant or injured have to file the case he would have to move towards the courts but he remains unable to locate any lawyer there and if by chance he is successful to locate any lawyer, courts fixed hearing of the case after the holidays, Abdul Rashid, a petitioner apprised APP. Rashid further said that if You engage any lawyer in these holidays he would demand a high fee to be the counsel in the case. Munir Raja, Advocate HC while responding a query said that lawyers are also human beings and being a member of a family they should have spare days for their personal lives, adding that all the year they remained engaged with litigants and spend their lives to serve them.
