Immediate start of FGPC extension project demanded

ISLAMABAD: Citizens have demanded the concerned quarters to immediate start construction work on the Federal Government Poly Clinic (FGPC) extension project to facilitate patients. They said that there should be no further delay in the extension work as the hospital is catering to the needs of a large number of people and the present building is not enough to fulfil the requirements. They said that with the completion of expansion plan, more facilities will be available for patients and the hospital will offer modern healthcare equipment. It is pertinent to mention here that a five-storey building would be constructed on a 2.5 acre section of Argentina Park. The new building will have two basement levels and a parking lot. The old Polyclinic building would be upgraded in the Phase II and there is also plan to relocate the hospital as there is enough land available for this purpose. Around one-third of the Argentina Park will be used to erect a new structure for the extension of Polyclinic Hospital.  Being the second largest government hospital in the capital city, Polyclinic currently facilitates over 6,000 patients at its outpatient department. Its limited beds are insufficient to meet the growing demand.
