ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Friday submitted a resolution in the National Assembly condemning the life threats to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Opposition leader in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah also wrote a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Friday asking him to take this matter seriously and hold a detailed inquiry into it at the highest level. The resolution, signed by all members of the party in the Lower House of parliament, demanded that immediate action should be taken against the proscribed outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi for making life threats to Bilawal.
Bilawal disclosed in a Twitter message that he had received a threatening letter from the LeJ. He appreciated the Punjab chief minister for taking swift action upon it. The IG Punjab contacted the young PPP leader’s aide to promise an investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, in his letter to Punjab chief minister the opposition leader said that this is an important issue and the PPP takes it as a matter of great concern. “In the past, PPP had to face irreparable losses due to such terrorist activities and now the PPP is not in a position of risking the life of its leader,” Shah stated.
He hoped that the Punjab government will take this matter seriously and a detailed inquiry will be held at the highest level. Meanwhile, son of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and a member of National Assembly Hamza Shahbaz said that Bilawal makes statements without thinking. Talking outside the Parliament House after the assembly session on Friday, he suggested that politics should not be done on the issue of terrorism and advised Bilawal not to give statements without considering their implications. “I pray to God Almighty to keep Bilawal safe,” Hamza said and added that Bilawal should better serve the people of Thar, who are victims of starvation.
