Youm-e-Takbeer to be observed today

ISLAMABAD: Youm-e-Takbeer, the celebration of Pakistan’s atomic explosions in 1998, would be observed across the country with national zeal and fervour today (Wednesday). On May 28, 1998, Pakistan joined the prestigious club of seven nuclear powers, by conducting nuclear tests in response to India’s testing its nukes on May 11 and 13, the same year. A remarkable ceremony in connection with the day is being held at the place of Chaghai model near the Faizabad Interchange. The ceremony would be addressed by Senator Raja Zafarul Haq, Senator Syed Zafar Ali Shah, and MNA Tariq Fazal Chaudhry. The party workers of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would also light candles besides holding cake cutting ceremony on this occasion to mark the day in a befitting manner. Various organisations would also stage rallies and hold seminars to highlight the importance of this day. Rich tributes would be paid to the team of nuclear scientists who raised Pakistan’s strategic status in the comity of nations and signified the principle of self-reliance.
