British envoy hails NUSTstudent engineers

ISLAMABAD: A team of students from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) visited the British High Commission ahead of their trip to the UK to compete in a ‘cars of the future’ rally. Accompanied by NUST officials and sponsors of the ‘Formula Student Pakistan’, the students briefed British High Commissioner Philip Barton about their locally-designed and manufactured racing car “NAS14”. They explained NAS14’s innovative features and about the efforts that have gone into producing this car in Pakistan. The students also shared their excitement and enthusiasm with the high commissioner on hearing the news of qualifying to take part in the upcoming competition at the home of British motorsports, the Silverstone Race Circuit, in Northamptonshire next month.Speaking on the occasion, the British high commissioner said, “I am delighted to see the efforts by the students in producing this fantastic vehicle, and to meet the officials from NUST and the sponsors who have helped these budding engineers get to this stage.”“It is great news that Formula Student Pakistan will take part at the home of British Motorsports, the Silverstone Race Circuit in the UK. More Grand Prix cars are made in Britain than any other country because the world chooses the United Kingdom for advanced engineering. With these young and bright students participating in the ‘Formula Student’ competition, I hope to see Pakistan’s role in the world of motor sports grow. I wish the Pakistan Formula Students the very best of luck in competing and showcasing their innovative work in the United Kingdom.”
