Polio vaccination target achieved in high risk areas

RAWALPINDI: The health teams on Sunday claimed to have achieved the polio vaccination target set for the high-risk areas of the city and cantonment, under a five-day drive. While talking to the media personnel, Health Executive District Officer Zafar Iqbal Gondal said that over 162,000 children, below five-years-of-age, were administered with the anti-polio drops during the campaign launched in 11 union councils of the city, three wards of Rawalpindi cantt, six union councils of Tehsil Taxila, and four union councils of Tehsil Rawalpindi. “All localities, during the regular anti-polio drive, were declared high-risk areas after having confirmed reports of the presence of polio virus there,” he said.
