Clean and Green Islamabad :  CDA completes first phase of campaign

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Thursday completed its first phase of “clean and green Islamabad” campaign, which began from Sector I-10 and culminated in Sector F7 at Jinnah Super Markaz.
Concluding ceremony of clean and green campaign was attended by people from different segments of society in a large number including Senator Farhat Ullah Baber, Senator Osman Saifullah, representatives of Traders Welfare Association F-7 Markaz, Civil Society, NGO’s, Ladies Council and Students from different schools, colleges and universities. Senior officials of Capital Development Authority were also present on the occasion.
Member engineering and Environment CDA Sanaullah Aman disclosed the purpose of this healthy activity to make direct and effective coordination between CDA officials and public. 
The Member engineering and Environment CDA pointed out that during the first phase of the campaign, we had understood the basic issues persisting in all sectors of Islamabad, adding that in the light of this experience CDA would specifically focus on other weaknesses in second phase of campaign.
Sanaullah Aman said that “Clean and Green Islamabad” campaign was an initiative of the Capital Development Authority to preserve the environment of the Capital City with intention to further improve the cleanliness and greenery in the city.
He stated that CDA has started this campaign, which was supported by all citizens of Islamabad. “Today’s ceremony is the conclusion of the first phase of “Clean and Green Islamabad” campaign but this is not the conclusion of our efforts for improvement of environment of Islamabad” he added.
On the occasion Mr. Sana informed media that the CDA will start the second phase from 27th March 2014 and the third phase from the 15th of April 2014 while the tree plantation campaign will commence from 5th March 2014.
Regarding CDA’S plantation campaign Sana said that through these campaigns our objective is to coordinate and streamline CDA services for Islamabad. He also said that they were concentrating to make this campaign as an awareness campaign. Eventually all citizens of the city will take the responsibility of Clean and Green Islamabad on their own shoulders.
He also thanked the media for its cooperation and said that media has been playing its vital role in awareness about the sanitation issues, saving the water and making the city clean and green
Speaking on the occasion Senator Farhat Ullah Baber said that all segments of society are equal stakeholders for betterment of the Capital City. He said that the issue of environment transcends all classes and all political parties. Capital Development Authority deserves praise for being active to preserve the healthy environment of the Capital City.
“On behalf of all legislators, I assure full support of the legislature to Capital Development Authority”. The Senate’s Sub Committee on Environment is engaged with CDA to tackle environment related issues. Despite financial and administrative constraints the performance of CDA is encouraging.
Senator Osman Saifullah on the occasion said that Capital Development Authority is moving in right direction and “Clean and Green Islamabad” campaign is one such move. All of us jointly own the Capital City and this joint ownership puts a heavy responsibility on all of us to work together for preserving the cleanliness, greenery and environment of Islamabad. The Senate of Pakistan will support Capital Development Authority for every step in right direction. “We are available to CDA for help all the time”, the Senator further said.
Representatives of Traders Welfare Association F-7 Markaz, NGO’s and Students also shared their views during the ceremony and praised “Clean and Green Islamabad” campaign by Capital Development Authority.
The ceremony was followed by a walk led by Member Environment and Engineering Mr. Sanaullah Aman which was participated by people in a large number.
