ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid said on Wednesday that the government was ready for registration of an FIR against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and ministers if Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) head Tahirul Qadri allows children, women and men at his sit-in to go home.
In a statement, he said that the government team had expressed its willingness to the registration of “unjustified and baseless FIR” against the prime minister and the ministers. He said the government’s only demand was that “instead of forcing the participants of the sit-in on a collision course”, Qadri should allow the children, women, and men go home peacefully.
Tahirul Qadri had on Tuesday demanded the hanging of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif over the Model Town deaths. The cleric said the resignations of the brothers would not resolve the problem now. “Now the issue is not just limited to the resignations of both the Sharifs, rather the hanging of both of them will deliver the real justice, as a report of the tribunal investigating Model Town carnage has declared Shahbaz Sharif and Punjab government murderers,” the firebrand clerk said.
