Police arrest 59 outlaws; drugs, weapons siezed

RAWALPINDI/ISLAMABAD: Some 57 outlaws, including nine gamblers and four suspected dacoits were arrested by the police, under its ongoing drive against the anti-social elements in various areas of the city during the last three days.According to sources, the police recovered 1,060 grammes of charas and 540 grammes of heroin, 62 bottles of liquor, 210 litres of wine, 30 litres of alcohol, illegal arms, including seventeen pistols of 30-bore with 66 rounds, two 32-bore pistols with nine rounds, one 9mm pistol with 10 rounds, and a TT pistol with four rounds from the arrested accused, said a police spokesperson on Saturday. The Gungmandi police held a man for having 550 grammes of charas, while the New Town police netted another accused for possessing 510 grammes of charas. The Jatli police recovered 50 litres of wine from a man, while the Gungmandi police recovered 20 bottles of liquor from another accused. One more person was rounded for having 10 bottles of liquor. The RA Bazaar police nabbed a man for carrying 10 liquor bottles. The Race Course police apprehended an accused and recovered 110 litres of wine and 30 litres of alcohol.Meanwhile, the Saddar Wah police, acting on a tip-off conducted a raid and netted five gamblers, as they were involved in gambling. The police recovered cash worth Rs 28,590, 16 mobile phone sims, and other items from their possession. Similarly, the Race Course police, in a raid, netted five persons from a gambling den in the Dhoke Chaudharian area. The accused were allegedly involved in betting. The police recovered cash worth Rs 17,810 stake money and four mobile phones from their possession. The Waris Khan police conducted a raid in the Millat Colony and rounded up four suspected dacoits. The police recovered a 30-bore pistol with two rounds, a 32-bore revolver with three round, and a dagger from them.Others accused were sent behind the bars as the police recovered illegal weapons, drugs, liquor, and other items from their possession. On the other hand, the Shahzad Town Police Station on Saturday arrested a liquor supplier and recovered 240 bottles of liquor from his custody. According to the ICT police, an accused was running a liquor business but the police arrested him while he was leaving to supply liquor bottles on his car. On a tip-off, Superintendent Police (SP) Zubair Ahmed Shiekh constituted a team comprising Inspector Abdul Sattar, ASI Sajid Mehmood, Constable Azhar Mehmood, and Asif Mehmood.During the preliminary investigation, the accused revealed that he was going to supply the liquor bottles in the Shakrial area. Meanwhile, the Shahzad Town police also arrested a man for carrying out aerial firing and have started investigation.The police also recovered a 30-bore pistol, and ammunition and registered a case against him. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Muhammad Ali Naikokar appreciated the performance of the policemen and announced cash prizes and appreciation letter for the team. The SSP also directed all the SHOs to take action against all the criminals in their respective jurisdiction. He also instructed the police to ensure strict vigilance and patrolling in the city.
