Special teams to check sub-standard fruit and drinks

ISLAMABAD: CDA member Amir Ali Ahmed has directed the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) to constitute special teams for operation against sub-standards fruit and drink sellers in the city. As per principals of public health and relevant rules, action should be taken against sellers of sub-standard, unhygienic, and expired food stuff. On directions of Ahmed, special teams are being constituted to take action against the sale of unhygienic food. The teams would start their operation immediately and weekly progress report would be submitted to the member administration. Meanwhile, during previous week, 75 notices and 27 challans were issued to the violators. One hotel at F7 Markaz and one tea stall in Sector G8/4 were partially sealed. Furthermore, 60 litres of non-branded oil, six dozen snacks, and 40 unhygienic utensils were confiscated and then destroyed. The said action was taken by two specially formed DHS teams, each headed by a food inspector working under the supervision of a health officer. Performance of the teams is being examined on daily basis.
