ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police have reportedly made comprehensive security arrangements on the Christmas Eve, with special deployments at churches and public places.
According to a police spokesman, security officials had been deployed in and around churches across the federal capital, were special checking of the participants was ensured to avert any untoward incident.
Islamabad Inspector General Sikandar Hayat said that foolproof security arrangements had been made on the occasion for the protection of the Christian community.
He said that the woods near churches would be completely searched, while Mobile Eagle, Falcon Squad and Commandos would ensure patrolling in such areas.
Islamabad SSP Muhammad Rizwan also said that security measures at public places, including parks, were also being made more effective. “Security has been tightened at the entry and exit points of the capital as well as around churches,” he added.
The SSP also directed all the superintendents of police (SPs), sub-divisional police officers (SDPOs) and station house officers (SHOs) for to ensure effective patrolling in their respective areas.
Plainclothesmen and well-equipped policemen would also perform duties near the churches and public places, he said.
The police have also ordered stern action against beggars and suspects, besides conducting effective checking of hotels and inns.
Meanwhile, SP (Traffic) Asmatullah Junejo while addressing the Christian community at a ceremony on Tuesday at the Islamabad Traffic Police Headquarters said that personnel from minorities, including Christians, had been contributing significantly in the department and were assigned very important duties.
The Christian employees of the ITP were specially invited at the ceremony. He said that Christians and people from minorities were performing well in the ITP. “Their contribution in making this force as role model for other law enforcement agencies is greatly appreciable,” the SP added.
On the occasion, he also cut a cake with the Christian employees. The employees thanked the SP (traffic) and officials of the Islamabad police for remembering them in their happy moment.
