ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has given his nod to the allocations finalised for the PSDP (Public Sector Development Programme) of the upcoming financial year, 2014-15, and also approved various mega projects, including Diamer Bhasha Dam (4,500 MW), Dasu Hydropower Project (2,160MW), construction of Faisalabad-Khanewal M-4 Motorway (57km) and Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus project.
The approval to the PSDP allocation of next fiscal year regarding various mega development projects was made during a meeting chaired by the premier on Friday to finalise the PSDP allocation for financial year 2014-15, in the PM House. The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, MNA Hamza Shahbaz, MNA Capt (r) Safdar and senior officials of the ministries concerned.
The PM was given a detailed briefing on the PSDP projects included in the next year’s budget by senior officials of the Finance Ministry, seeking his approval. Prime Minister Nawaz was told that each project, whether small, medium or large, has been evaluated with reference to cost, importance, priority and time frame.
The meeting also discussed and approved the feasibility study for construction of new rail link from Islamabad to Muzaffarabad via Murree, feasibility study for construction of new rail link from Havelian to Pak-China border, and that of connecting Gwadar with Karachi through rail, approach roads to the new Islamabad international airport and new Gwadar International Airport project.
