Islamabad running out of space to bury the dead

ISLAMABAD: Due to the increasing population in the capital and the negligence of the CDA, the space to bury the dead is starting to run short. The capital, having a population of more than 800,000, only has two graveyards operating under the CDA. The Sector H8 graveyard, the oldest and largest, has already run out of space and only the VIPs can get space in it. The Sector H8 graveyard, which has more than 40,000 graves, houses graves of important personalities including former rulers, politicians, bureaucrats, generals, judges, and intellectuals. While in Sector H11 graveyard, the space is also running out. The graveyard has space to bury the dead for the next five years only. "In view of the current situation we have sent a summary to the CDA chairman for the expansion of Sector H11 graveyard and we are hopeful that it would be approved soon," DMA Director Hamza Shafqat said.
