Academic institutions closed, CNG stations to open today

ISLAMABAD: The academic institutions of the capital remained closed while the universities cancelled their scheduled exams on Monday due to the protest of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) activists.All the schools and colleges remained closed due to security measures for the rallies of PAT while the Allama Iqbal Open University as well as the Quaid-e-Azam University cancelled their scheduled papers. The National University of Science and Technology also announced two days holiday and cancelled its entry tests. An official of the Allama Iqbal Open University said that the scheduled papers for Monday had been cancelled at the examination centres of Punjab and the capital only due to the security reasons, adding, that the papers were conducted as per date sheet in other provinces. New dates of examination would be announced soon, he further said. While an official of the Quaid-e-Azam University said that a new date of examination would be announced after analysing the situation.On the other hand, the CNG filling stations of the twin cities open today (Tuesday) due to Monday's closure, said All Pakistan CNG Association Chairman Ghayas Paracha. While talking to the media personnel, he said that the gas filling stations were to open on Monday as per schedule, but they were closed due to security measures. According to the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) revised schedule, gas at the CNG stations of the twin cities would be available today from 6am till tomorrow (Wednesday) 6am. The CNG stations would follow the normal schedule from Thursday (June 26), the SNGPL chairman added.
