Pakistani students get leading position in Beijing Summer Camp

ISLAMABAD: Twelve Pakistani middle school students have earned singular honour by taking a leading position among 600 foreign students while participating at the 11-day Beijing International Summer Camp in China that has concluded this week. This was the first time that the Pakistani middle school students, along with their two teachers took part in the camp, on the invitation of the Chinese government. One of the students, Danial Kamal, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the camp. The students were welcomed back at the reception held at the Chinese embassy. Wife of Chinese ambassador Bao Jiqing, in her speech at the reception, congratulated the Pakistani students for their active participation in the camp. “They acted as young ambassador of their country, further deepening the decades’ old China-Pak brotherly relationship,” said Ayesha Ansar, leader of the Pakistani students’ delegation. The students’ representatives also spoke at the reception and said that the visit helped them in confidence-building and personality development. Their visit was a great opportunity to understand the vibrant Chinese cultural and their social values. The Chinese government, they said provided them warm hospitality during their stay in Beijing. While appreciating the students, Bao Jiqing further said the Pakistani students had done a wonderful job in showing the culture of their country, to both the Chinese and international students at the camp.Their participation was most impressive in promoting their country’s soft-image. Based upon this year’s successful experience, the Chinese government would expand the size of the Pakistan student’s delegation to Beijing summer camp next year, so that more Pakistan middle school students can have the opportunity to visit Beijing and get true experience of the Chinese history and Chinese culture, she added.
