Won’t release Shakil Afridi on US request: Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Alleged CIA collaborator Dr Shakil Afridi would not be released on the request of the United States, the Foreign Office (FO) said on Thursday. FO spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said at a weekly press briefing that there is no question of the release of Dr Shakil Afridi on the request of the US as his case is sub-judice. The spokesperson added that the US aid is not related to Dr Afridi. Regarding the truckers issue at the LoC, she said Pakistan on Tuesday had given demarche to the Indian counsellor and Indian High Commission has held a series of meetings with FO officials and exchange of views were made on how to settle the issue. She said Pakistan and the US would hold strategic dialogue in Washington on the 27th and 28th of this month. The spokesperson further said that she has no knowledge about the dates of visit of Indian trade minister to Pakistan.
