ISLAMABAD: Unidentified armed men looted three people, including two foreigner women, here on Saturday. The day also saw police arresting an extortionist and getting his three-day physical remand from court.
Police said that unidentified motorcyclists stopped two foreigner women who were returning home after shopping in the Super Market, Sector F6. The accused snatched their purses and sped away. The victim women told the police that foreign and Pakistani currency worth Rs 70,000, mobile phones and other documents were inside their purses. In the Melody area, three armed men snatched a purse from an employee of a sensitive agency. The purse contained cash, office card, CNIC and important documents.
Meanwhile, the police arrested an accused, saying he was a member of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and involved in receiving extortion from citizens by threatening them over the telephone. The detainee, identified as Faheem Khan, hailed from Sector F8 of the capital, and is stated to be an employee of a private TV channel. The accused was produced in court and later given into police custody on a three-day physical remand.
