ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Rules of Procedures and Privileges on Thursday decided to listen to PTI chief Imran Khan in person and let him clear his position about his remarks against senators. The committee would summon Imran Khan after receiving the privilege motion, signed by 26 Senators.  The PTI chief would be given an equal opportunity to give his side of story in this regard, said the committee. The Senate body committee, which met under Senator Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi, was attended by senators Abbas Khan Afridi, Islamuddin Shaikh, Haji Muhammad Adeel, Mian Raza Rabbani, Hidyat Ullah, Abdul Rauf, Muhammad Jaffar Iqbal and Minister of the Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab. Mashhadi noted that the Senate body was responsible to defend the dignity and prestige of the House, and said Imran Khan would be answerable for its statement against Senate members. Taking privilege motion of Senator Muhammad Zahid Khan, the committee directed the chief secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to hire technical staff and make dialysis machines at Timergara Hospital (Lower Dir) operational. Mashhadi said that funds, spent on the purchase of machines, should not go waste. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Muhammad Shahzad Arbab told the committee that according to the report of Malakand commissioner and Lower Dir deputy commissioner, there was no MRI machine installed at Timergara Hospital. As for the dialysis machines, the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has sanctioned the posts in relaxation of a ban in this regard, he added. He said that dialysis machines would be functional within three months.
