Islamabad Zoo still inaccessible

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Zoo, the spot most visited by the people, nowadays shows a ‘ghost town look’ as no one is able to reach there due to the sit-ins by PTI and PAT led by Tahirul Qadri and Imran Khan. The residents of the twin cities have been facing inconvenience and disruption in their daily life and recreational activities due to these sit-ins for the last five days, although children still have their summer vacation left. The Islamabad Zoo, which is situated at the foot of the Margalla Hills, offers tremendous recreation to the people from different age groups due to its natural wildlife environment.Besides this, many foreign tourists and children particularly visit the natural habitat of the animals. It also offers a good chance to learn about various animals and birds species. The unique characteristic of the zoo is its natural environment with diverse kind of wildlife species that were mostly donated by different wildlife organisations. Similar to other recreational spots, the number of visitors to the Islamabad Zoo has drastically declined that has also resulted in financial losses to the management. An official of the CDA said that the zoo is an exhibition house, which needs to have healthy and vigorous animals, and the authority was well aware of the situation and is working to bring more animals and birds in the zoo. The authorities concerned would enlarge the cages for leopards, wolves, and birds including eagles and improve the waterfall areas, footpaths, and landscape, he added.
