AIOU to open MS/MPhil and PhD admissions from August 1

ISLAMABAD: The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) would open its MS/MPhil and PhD admissions in various disciplines for the autumn semester, 2014 from August 1, this was announced by AIOU Director Admissions Syed Ziaul Hasnain. He said that in line with the recent judgment of the Lahore High Court and the notification of the HEC, the university has removed the compulsory condition of the GAT test for the admissions of MPhil and PhD programmes. The students seeking admissions in the higher education (MPhil and PhD) are not required to pass the GAT test, conducted by the National Testing Service (NTS), he added. The entry test for the admissions in these programmes, would now be conducted by the relevant departments, as per the requirement of the HEC and rules and conditions laid down under the university’s charter, said Naqvi. He further said that the admissions forms and the prospectuses of the SSC to PhD level programmes can be obtained from the sale points at the main campus, regional campuses, and coordinating offices across the country. The admission forms along with the prescribed fee can be submitted in countrywide branches of Bank Al-Falah, Habib Bank Ltd, First Women Bank, Allied Bank, and at the nominated branches of the National Bank of Pakistan and Muslim Commercial Bank. The detail of the designated branches is available in the prospectuses as well as in the regional offices. Last date for the submission of the admission form is September 5.
