Lahore chaos: lawyers observe strike on PBC's plea

RAWALPINDI: The lawyers of the whole country including Rawalpindi boycotted the courts and observed strike on the appeal of the Pakistan Bar Council after the Lahore incident. Due to the boycott, hearing of the cases could not take place in special courts of anti-terrorism along with the subordinate courts. Anti-terrorism court's judge Justice Pervaiz Ismail Yahya adjourned the hearing of the Benazir Bhutto assassination case till June 28. Statements of five witnesses of prosecution were to be recorded but due to the strike of the lawyers, no development in the case took place. Hearing of the attack on NATO containers case has also been adjourned till July 1 and the case of Punjab Police Inspector Raja Saqlain's assassination was also adjourned till June 26. The bar authorities said that the incident of Lahore was very sorrowful in which lives of eight citizens were wasted.
