CDA plans crackdown on illegal use of residential buildings

*CDA chief orders Planning Wing to compile new report based on fresh survey of buildings in capital* Directs installation of street direction, traffic sign boards in Sector D-12

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Maroof Afzal has directed the Planning Wing to compile a new report based on fresh survey regarding non-confirming use of residential buildings.The chairman made these remarks while chairing a high level meeting  held here at CDA headquarters. The meeting reviewed the report about commercial and non-confirming use of residential buildings in the city.While expressing his dissatisfaction over the report regarding non- confirming use of residential buildings, the chairman CDA directed the Planning Wing to compile a new report based on fresh survey. The new report should be used to control non-confirming use of residential buildings in Islamabad. The Chairman directed to initiate a new detailed survey in this regard adding to curb the non-confirming use of residential buildings in the proximity of the Marakiz and other commercial areas on priority. Comprehensive plan of action should be evolved in the new report to permanently and indiscriminately curb the trend of non-confirming use of the residential buildings in the city, he added. Maroof Afzal directed the concerned staff to take action against the violators of building by laws without fear or favour. The meeting was attended by concerned Member and senior officers of the concerned formations of CDA including Building Control Section.Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA),  Maroof Afzal has directed Sector Development Directorate of the Authority to install street direction and traffic sign boards in Sector D-12 of Islamabad. Chairman CDA said this while chairing a meeting held at CDA  Headquarters to review the progress and pace of development work in sector D-12.On this occasion Chairman was apprised that the carpeting work on the  road connecting sector D-12 with E-12 (Northern Strip) has been started, while carpeting work on other major and service roads will be initiated soon. Chairman was further informed that the contractor has been directed to complete road carpeting on small streets and roads so that the remaining development work in the said sector could be completed at the earliest.Similarly, small water supply lines of Sector D-12 are being connected to main water supply line of Islamabad whereas a water pumping unit is also being constructed in order to cater future water requirement in sector D-12.On this occasion Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal said that the CDA would  not only open new sectors but the development work on stalled and ignored sectors has also been included in the priority projects of the Authority. He further said that the CDA has allocated handsome amount for the development of stalled sectors in the budget of fiscal year 2014-15, so installation of street and traffic road sign boards must be started without any delay.Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal also directed Environment Wing to focus  sector D-12 during up coming monsoon tree plantation drive so that the green character of Islamabad could be maintained.
