EPA inspects 44 sites under anti-dengue drive, seals four

RAWALPINDI: The Environment Protection Agency (EPA), under its ongoing anti-dengue drive, on Monday inspected 44 sites and sealed four places where the dengue larva was found. EPA District Officer Mian Mohammad Nawaz, while talking to the media personnel said that an FIR has also been lodged against a person who did not take notice of the breeding larvae after being informed several times. The EPA teams also removed stagnant water from seven dengue-breeding sites, he informed. The EPA teams found dengue larva at three points including Chinese Hospital, Aashiyana Family Hotel, and junkyard of the Railway Hospital. Nawaz further informed that the EPA teams visited 44 points including 23 tyre shops, over 21 junkyards, hotels, and hospitals. He said that the tyre shops, hotels, restaurants, nurseries, under construction sites, and other vulnerable points are regularly being checked and special inspection is conducted to check the dengue mosquito larva. As many as 37 sites were declared clear of the dengue larva. The EPA would continue to conduct such raids until the dengue mosquito was eliminated, he added.
