Duststorm hits Rawalpindi, bringing some relief for residents

RAWALPINDI: Duststorm, which lasted for almost half-an-hour, on Monday afternoon hit the city and gave some relief to citizens in the prevailing hot weather conditions.Although the storm caused disturbance to motorcyclists and motorists as the visibility came to zero in mid-day at the roads already undergoing mega development/construction projects, but created a ray of hope for public experiencing scorching heat for past few days.Commuters were seen stuck midway on the roads and many took refuge at safer places due to the duststorm. When contacted, Rescue-1122 said no loss of life or damage to property was reported.Following the cloudy conditions, the mercury level came down as compared to previous days, but the citizens continued to reel under high humidity.Meanwhile, the city recorded maximum temperature 42 degree at Celsius while the minimum was 36 degrees.According to Meteorological department forecast mainly hot and dry weather in most parts of the country during next 48 hours.However, rain-thundershower coupled with gusty and dust-raising winds is expected at scattered places in Kashmir, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore, Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan.
