Police to use Google Maps for effective security


ISLAMABAD: Police officials of the twin cities have agreed to use Google Maps to define the patrolling points as well as the pickets in the city which would be monitored by the officials to ensure effective security. It was decided in a meeting between the police officials of Islamabad and Rawalpindi to build an effective joint security plan and ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens.Following the directions of Nisar Ali Khan, the meeting of the officials was held at the Islamabad Central Police Office. The meeting was attended by AIG Sultan Azam Temuir, CPO Humayun Basheer Tarar, SP Mustansar Feeroz, SP Ilyas, SP Jameel Ahmed Hashmi, and Administration Officer Iqbal Nasir from Islamabad Police and SP Haroon Joiya from Rawalpindi Police. The AIG said that an elaborate joint security plan is crucial for the twin cities. He asked the police officials of both the cities to enhance coordination and ensure prompt exchange of information. He said that joint pickets have been established and search operation in the slum areas would continue. The officers discussed the functioning of the `Joint Communication Control Room’ and decided to install security cameras at various toll plazas. It was also decided that the patrolling mechanism for both cities would be made effective. It was also decided that the crackdown would continue against dacoits, car-lifting gangs, proclaimed offenders and criminals. It was decided that SPs and in-charges of the police stations at the entry and exit points of the twin cities would conduct meeting on fortnight basis and share information.It was also decided that senior police officials of both the cities would conduct follow-up meetings on monthly basis, while Special Branch Police of the twin cities would share information regarding possible threats. During the meeting, it was also decided that police forces of the twin cities would be considered as one unit and practical steps in this regard would be taken for rooting out the menace of terrorism and eradicating crime, the sources said,The AIG informed that joint mock exercises to counter any untoward situation would be conducted by the security stakeholders and flaws would be removed after reviewing the performance.
