Performance of police officers to be judged on merit: SSP


ISLAMABAD: Senior Superintendent of Police Islamabad Muhammad Ali Nekokara has said that efficient police officers would be deputed in police stations and performance of working cops will be judgsed to ensure effective policing.He said that six-month performance of police officials working in police stations would be judged and they would be replaced with capable police employees in case their performance is not satisfactory. The SSP said that grading would be made keeping in view performance of police officials and good performers would be assigned further task while sluggish cops to be replaced by capable ones. He stated this while chairing a meeting here also attended by SP (Saddar) Muhammad Ilyas, SP (City) Mustansar Feeroz, SP (Investigation) Jameel Ahmed Hashmi, SP (Rural) Zubair Ahmed Sheikh, SP(Security) Rizwan Umar Gondal, all SDPOs and SHOs of police stations. The SSP asked all SDPOs and SHOs to maintain continuous contact with the complainants and take every possible step for immediate relief to them. It is the prime responsibility of police to help citizens and all out efforts should be made to bridge the gap between police and pubic, he added. Nekokara said that the police would tighten its hold around hardened criminals. He also said that citizens would be given direct access to the officers so that their grievances could be redressed.He directed to make field officers more responsible to nab criminals involved in dacoites, street crimes and other crimes of heinous nature. SSP said that an effective strategy is vital to reduce crime and also ordered to adopt professional as well as responsible attitude to mitigate the sufferings of the people. SSP Islamabad directed to focus on resolving the public complaints, and take every possible step to provide maximum relief to citizens. He stressed for speedy disposal of cases, investigation purely on merit and earliest arrest of criminals involved in various crime cases. He also emphasized the need to adopt zero tolerance against petty crime.Nekokara further said that transparency and merit would be ensured in the department. The professional and honest officers would be rewarded for their achievements while officers found involved in malpractice would be taken to task. The SSP also directed all police officials to check security of hotels, markets and other important public places and brief the security personnel as per scenario.
