Heavy load shedding impacts tailoring business

RAWALPINDI/ISLAMABAD: Like other parts of the country, the prevailing load shedding have badly impacted the business of tailoring and majority the tailors have refused to take orders for the upcoming Eidul Fitr. Those, who can afford have the option to go for ready-made clothes but others are bound to depend on the busy schedules of the tailors who delay their orders and demand for double charges. “Wearing new clothes and other accessories is a source of happiness for every one on Eid but the load shedding is going to spoil this happiness,” Shabana said. Another customer, Aslam said, “I gave clothes of my children to the nearest tailor for stitching on the 10th day of Ramazan and hardly was able to convince him for stitching the clothes before Eid. “I am still in doubt whether the tailor would be able to manage the stitching of the clothes or I would have to go for ready-made clothes of my children at the last hour,” he said.Asif, who runs a tailor shop in the Peoples Colony said that the tailors have stopped booking new orders since the first week of Ramazan due to the load shedding. He said that the majority of the tailors are not able use generators as the expected profit they could earn is not matchable with their expenses.
