ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad police have asked all the property dealers running their business within the city to give prior information to their respective police stations before giving houses or rooms in hostels at rent.A formal meeting in this regard was held at the Police Line headquarters, which was presided by SP (City) Mustansar Feeroz. SHOs of Tarnol, Bhara Kahu, and Sihala police stations, and property dealers working in their jurisdictions were also present on the occasion. The SP asked the property dealers not to rent the property in Islamabad to any tenant or give rooms in hotels without providing information to the police. He said that Section 144 has been imposed in this regard, following which it had been prohibited to rent-out any kind of property to any person, whether by a property dealer/broker/owner without informing the police station concerned in which property is situated regarding the particulars of tenants.Provision of phone numbers and CNICs number of the tenants to the police stations would be mandatory and all particulars would be provided in detail too, he added. Similarly, he said that the owners/managers of the hotels/motels/guest houses/ had also been prohibited to give rooms or place to a person as a guest without providing information to the police station concerned in which the establishment is situated. The particulars of any guest, including his CNIC and phone numbers, would have to be provided to the police station. The SP also asked the house owners to follow the same criteria before giving their houses on rent. He said that the owners would be considered equally responsible in case they had not informed the police and their tenants were found indulged in any kind of criminal activity. Feeroz said that the internally displaced persons (IDPs) were shifting in various areas of the city and all these measures were being taken so that the miscreants or terrorists might not get advantage of the situation and their nefarious designs to be foiled in time.
