Nisar asks police to treat the twin cities as single entity

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has directed the police high-ups of Islamabad and Rawalpindi to treat the twin cities as a single entity for operational purposes and improve their coordination to provide better security to the residents.While chairing a joint high-level meeting of the senior officials on Monday, Nisar said that the police of both the cities should be treated as one force not only in countering terrorism but also in eradicating major crimes. He added that joint patrolling by the police force of twin cities should be ensured in the contiguous areas. He said that the police of both the cities may share their crime data with each other to facilitate the investigation of crimes. The Islamabad IG informed the minister that regular meetings are taking place at various levels between the police officials.Nisar stressed that coordination taking place between the police of the twin cities should be reflected on ground and said that it is the responsibility of the senior officers to monitor joint patrolling at all hours, particularly at night and early morning. He emphasised that joint mock exercises should be conducted by the police to perform better in case of any eventuality.The minister inquired about the incident that took place on the IJ Principal Road on Sunday and expressed his sorrow and grief over the death of a police jawan. He was briefed about the investigation about the Sabzi Mandi bomb blast. He directed the police authorities to employ all available resources to identify the culprits. Nisar asked the Islamabad IG to make sure that efficient police officers are posted in the capital while removing those who are slack, incompetent or corrupt. The meeting was attended by the Islamabad IG, RPO, AIG, CPO and other senior officials.
