Rootsians shine at Mauritius national day celebrations


Islamabad: High Commissioner of Mauritius to Pakistan HE Rashad Duraeewoo hosted a grand Mauritius Independence Day dinner at the Marriott Hotel Islamabad in collaboration with Roots International Schools yesterday 14th March 2014.The evening was graced by many senior diplomats and their spouses along with influential people from the corporate sector and proved the strategic importance of the ties two countries hold. Federal Minister for Defence Productions Rana Tanvir and State Minister for Education Baleegh Ur Rehman embraced the occasion as the chief guests. The dignitaries cut the cake to celebrate the years of progress and opened path to get-together session for the diplomats and corporate leaders. 
Rootsians welcomed the honourable guests in colourful cultural costumes and presented flowers bouquets. The ambiance of Marriott Marquee was beautiful with various chandeliers hanging creating a colourful aura of soft lights bouncing in every direction. While addressing the gathering, HE Rashad Duraeewo mentioned that upon floating the idea of holding this significant Celebration dinner, he had received an overwhelming response from Walid Muhstaq, and the students of Roots International have rendered their services as ushers for such a high profile event. He further said that Roots International Schools Pakistan hold a close relation with Mauritius High Commission and he is looking forward to strengthening the strategic partnership with Pakistan to promote the development sector in both states. Urroj Iqbal, Director Roots Academy of Intellectual and Professional Development conducted the cake cutting ceremony.
Walid Mushtaq CEO Roots International Schools congratulated the guests and said, “Mauritius is a sparkling crystal, a tropical Island in the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. The contrast of beautiful colours, cultures and tastes makes the island so charming, not to forget the Splashing waves surrounding the island. You will discover the true meaning of ‘beauty’. In the late 1800s, Mark Twain took a voyage to Mauritius while travelling the world and used the phrase “you gather the idea that Mauritius was created first, and then heaven; and that heaven was copied after Mauritius”. I congratulate all citizens of Mauritius as you celebrate the 46th year of your independence today.”
The event ended with a sumptuous dinner at the beautiful hall where guests had a nice conversation with each other. While bidding farewell to the guests, HE Rashad Duraaewo said thanked Walid Mushtaq for his cooperation.
