ISLAMABAD: The Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) briefed the special court about the threat of attacks to Pervez Musharraf.
Officials of the intelligence agency and the Interior Ministry held an in-camera session in Sindh House on Thursday to brief judges of the special court. Sources privy to the briefing told a private TV channel that during the session officials said they had a strong intelligence network which could intercept telephone calls and know about possible threats. To a query as to why such a letter was issued prior to Musharraf’s appearance in the court, intelligence officials said they received this information and shared it with the Interior Ministry.
Musharraf will be indicted today (Friday) in the high treason case. The court had adjourned till today the hearing of three petitions filed by Musharraf. The three-member bench of the court presided over by Justice Faisal Arab resumed the hearing of the high treason case on Thursday. Defence counsel Anwar Mansoor told the court that he would not be able to give arguments due to food poisoning, therefore, the hearing of the case be adjourned. Justice Faisal Arab remarked, “We cannot issue orders for forced hearing of the petitions filed by the accused. If the defence counsel is indisposed then hearing of these petitions will be conducted today.”
