PBM to assist govt hospitals’ patients on priority: MD

RAWALPINDI: Managing Director Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal (PBM) Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh on Friday assured patients suffering from chronic diseases and getting treatment from public sector hospitals, that their cases regarding financial assistance would be approved on priority.Addressing the annual meeting of "Anjuman Behbood-e-Mareezan" (Patients Welfare Organization) of Holy Family Hospital (HFH) here, he said serving ailing humanity was the 'one-point agenda' of PBM. He said PBM was always ready to help needy segments of the society. He appreciated social and welfare services of the Anjuman, saying that charity organizations were playing an important role to mitigate the sufferings of patients facing chronic diseases like Hepatitis and Cancer by extending medical as well as financial assistance. President Anjuman Behbood-e-Mareezan Sharjeel Mir, Principal Allied Hospitals Dr Muhammad Umer, President Anjuman Tajran Sheikh Muhammad Sidddique, notables including Tahir Taj Bhatti, Sheikh Saleem, and Dr Sheikh Muhammad Riaz were also present on the occasion. The Anjuman Mareezan, Mir claimed, was the only charity organization operating in Punjab for last 10 years consistently and has spent more than Rs 350 million for providing treatment to deserving patients from its own resources.He said it was a non-political platform where funds were collected from traders and judiciously spent for the welfare of needy patients. The PBM MD was of the view that such charity organizations must be operative in all public sector hospitals for remedy to the patients.
