CDA grants Rs 20m for development projects

ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Maroof Afzal presided a meeting to review the progress about the ongoing development activities in different sectors of the capital.Afzal directed the formation concerned for early completion of the development work in Sector G13, which remained incomplete. It was also decided in the meeting that all the carpeting work of the roads in Sector G13 would be carried out by MPO Directorate.While granting allocation of Rs 20 million initially, the CDA chairman directed the MPO Directorate to start the carpeting of roads in Sector G13 from today (Monday). He has directed for the completion of work of the sewerage system and other works related to the sewerage system within a time period of two months.He expressed his satisfaction over the carpeting of road connecting Sector D12 with Sector E11, and directed the formations concerned for early completion of the carpeting of roads. He asked for the commencement of carpeting work of service road and other major roads in Sector D12, adding to direct the contractor concerned for the completion of the carpeting of small roads and streets in Sector D12 on priority.It was decided in the meeting to connect the water supply network of Sector D12 with main water supply line while approval for the installation of new pumping units in the sector was granted and funds in this regard have also been allocated. He directed the Engineering Wing to chalk out a comprehensive strategy for the completion of the remaining development work in the city.He said that no heed was paid in the past to the stalled sectors; however, the CDA has allocated major part of the budget for the year 2014-15 for the development of new sectors, as well as completion of the development activities in the stalled sectors on priority, which has been neglected in the past. He said that sufficient funds have been allocated for the development of the stalled sectors, adding that focus during the current financial year 2014-15 has been given to the construction and development work in the capital.
