Anti-dengue drive underway in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: The anti-dengue drive initiated by the district health department is underway and surveillance is being carried out in different areas of the city. During the campaign, spray was carried out in union councils no five to 19 which were declared high-risk areas last year. While talking to the media personnel, District Health Officer Imtaiz Ahmed said the health teams are regularly visiting the dengue-affected areas where fumigation is being carried out to destroy the larva breeding. The DHO said that the drive, which is in full swing, would continue till October. He said that it was the responsibility of every citizen to play his role for controlling dengue and protecting the citizens from this dangerous disease by adopting all precautionary measures and taking steps for ensuring cleanliness and not to allow stagnant water in our surroundings. He warned that the stern action would be taken against the staff deputed in the campaign, if they are found negligent to performing their duties.
