12,700 govt officials to get residence in capital

ISLAMABAD: As many as 12,700 out of the 22,000 federal government employees, registered with the Ministry of Housing and Works, in the first phase would get plots, flats, and houses in Bhara Kahu. While talking to the media personnel, a Federal Government Employees Housing Federation official said that about 22,000 employees got their registration under the government’s scheme to provide houses to the government servants since 2009. He said that the membership drive was initiated with the prime objective to provide housing units to the government employees under the government’s plan to overcome the housing backlog hitting hard to a significant number of employees for the last several years. He said that under the scheme, every registered employee would get an opportunity to have a house in the capital, which has so far remained an elusive dream for many. Giving breakup, he said that around 3,500 employees would get plots in Bhara Kahu, 2,200 employees to get apartments in Sector G13 and 7,000 employees would get plots in Sector F14. About mechanism of the ownership, he said that all the newly constructed residences would be disposed of accordingly on the basis of submitted lists and the aspirants would be accommodated on the updated lists. Different categories of the residences would be handed over to the registered employees accordingly, and no one would be left out to avail this opportunity. The membership drive was started in 2009 for all the federal employees, officials from autonomous/ semi autonomous bodies. The Federal Government Employees Housing Federation has offered an open opportunity to the employees to get registered for all future housing schemes once and for all, and the seniority is determined on first come first serve basis.
