Korean PM arrives on first-ever visit


ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister of Republic of Korea Chung Hongwon received a red carpet welcome as he arrived here on a four-day official visit on Sunday.
Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal welcomed the Korean premier and his delegation at the Nur Khan Airbase The Korean ambassador in Pakistan was also present on the occasion. Clad in traditional dresses, a young boy and a girl presented bouquets to the dignitary. Chung Hongwon is visiting Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. This is the first-ever prime minister level visit to Pakistan from the Republic of Korea since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1983.
During his stay, the South Korean leader will meet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, followed by delegation-level talks. He will also call on President Mamnoon Hussain. The Korean PM will be the chief guest at the “Korea Pakistan Investment Cooperation Forum” today (Monday), which has been jointly organised by the Board of Investment, Pakistan, and Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA). Chung Hongwon will also meet the Korean community in Pakistan. He will visit Shakarparian to plant a tree at the National Monument.   
PML-N central leader Siddiqul Farooq Sunday welcomed Prime Minister Chung Hong, saying his visit indicates good bilateral relationship. He said the two sides will be discussing issues ranging from economic growth and regional cooperation to global issues.
