Twin cities security to be put on high alert

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has directed the district and the police administration of the twin cities to keep the security on high alert, due to the security threats in the backdrop of the ongoing operation in North Waziristan Agency (NWA).He issued these instructions while chairing a meeting of the district and police administration of the twin cities on Saturday. The minister said that the security agencies needed to work beyond the call of their duty and show utmost responsibility in order to counter any unfortunate incident. Reviewing the overall security plans of the twin cities, the minister said that there should be state-of-art coordination between the security apparatus of the twin cities for better tackling during the emergency situations. He also directed the police force to further enhance its capacity by means of physical training and modern equipment. Nisar directed the district and police administration to keep the security of sensitive places extremely tight. He said that surprise search operations, especially in the adjoining areas of the Islamabad airport be made more intensive. He said that joint patrolling teams of the Rangers and police have given a sense of security to the residents but their services need to be made more target oriented and effective. The CPO Rawalpindi and Islamabad SSP briefed the minister about the security plans, and ongoing search operations and their results in their respective jurisdictions. Senior officials of the authorities concerned were also present in the meeting.
