ISLAMABAD: Around 400 officials of the Islamabad police conducted a search operation in the rural areas of the capital in wee hours of Sunday and nabbed several hardened criminals, drug pushers, suspects and targeted offenders.
According to details, IGP Sikandar Hayat and SSP Muhammad Rizwan had assigned the task to the Islamabad police to conduct an effective search operation in various locations and ensure the arrest of hardened criminals and suspects.
In compliance with these directives, SP (City) Mustansar Feroze along with various teams of the Islamabad police conducted a comprehensive targeted search operation in the Sohan, Zia Masjid and New Sharkial areas.
Around 400 policemen and police commandos participated in the search operation and nabbed several hardened criminals, drug pushers, suspects and targeted offenders.
As per the break-up of these arrests, capital police arrested 10 target offenders, 47 suspects and six Afghan nationals residing illegally in the city. The police also recovered a van, seven bikes, two pistols, hashish, heroin, 50 liquor bottles and spare parts of three motorbikes from them.
SSP Muhammad Rizwan appreciated the overall performance of the raiding teams and directed all the police officials to extend the scope of the search operation in other areas to ensure security to the peace-loving people of Islamabad.
Police sources, when contacted, said that initial investigations have been started and all the accused were being interrogated. They said that a decision regarding the registration of cases against them or releasing them would be made after completion of the initial investigation.
