CDA to make Islamabad ‘clean and green’ capital

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has said it will do all-out efforts to make the capital ‘clean and green’.
Chairman of the authority Maroof Afzal said told the inauguration ceremony of ‘Clean and Green Islamabad’ campaign that it was our prime responsibility to make Islamabad the most beautiful capital of the world.
He said the aim of clean and green campaign is to spread awareness among citizens. He requested the citizens to play their role for clean and green Islamabad and give their suggestions in this regard. He stressed upon the students to keep their schools and streets clean.
CDA chairman said civic body will start plantation campaign from next month, adding that plants play important role to keep the environment clean. The beautification, renovation and infrastructure up-gradation were the major objectives of the campaign. 
The first phase of the campaign will conclude on February 25, and would initially focus on six sectors including I-10, I-9, G-10, G-9 F-7 and F-6. Relevant formations of CDA will jointly operate to make this campaign an accomplishment.
The campaign will incorporate cleanliness of streets, roads, parks and markets as well as repair and maintenance of water filtration plants, streetlights, footpaths, man-holes and green areas. Streamlining the water supply and sewerage and other civic amenities will also be part of the campaign. 
The residents, traders, civil society and students will participate in the campaign. Moreover, awareness of the citizens will also be an integral part of the campaign. 
CDA Member Engineering and Environment Sanaullah Aman has appealed to the residents to cooperate and be a part of the campaign to consolidate the identity of the city as clean and green capital.
