Suspension of wheat supply to flourmills creates crisis

RAWALPINDI: The suspension of the wheat supply by the provincial government to the flourmills of the Rawalpindi district has posed the threat of crisis to the citizens of the twin cities. As many as 96 flourmills, including 59 in Rawalpindi and 38 in the capital are operating. As per the Punjab government’s fixed quota, 21,000 gunny bags of wheat were supplied to the mills. With the departure of the holy month of Ramazan, the supply of this quota has been stopped. The dealers and the big traders have started hoarding the wheat to create artificial shortage of flour.
