‘Azadi Train’ starts its month-long journey



ISLAMABAD: Ministers of State Anusha Rehman and Saira Afzal Tarar on Tuesday inaugurated the ‘Azadi Train’ at the Margalla Railway Station, which would commence its month-long journey from today (Wednesday) from Peshawar to Karachi, in connection with the Independence Day celebrations. Anusha said that because of the effective policies of the government the country has been put on the right track. The government is pursuing an integrated economic policy under which special emphasis is given to the welfare of the vulnerable segments of the society, the minister added. She further said that the continuation of the democratic system was the only way to steer the country out of all the challenges. She said that the nation should decide the change of the government through their votes, in a democratic way. State Minister for National Health Services Regulations and Coordination Saira Afzal Tarar, while speaking on the occasion said that the country does not need any ‘anarchistic’ revolution rather only an economic revolution was required for which the government has laid the foundation. The minister said that Imran Khan was trying to disrupt the Independence Day into a national split-up day. She further said that the brave armed forces personnel are fighting terrorists in the tribal areas, adding that amid the ongoing war on terror, the nation needs unity, but Imran wants to split it. Railway Chairperson Parveen Agha briefed on the occasion that specially geared up ‘Azadi Train’ comprises compartments including five three-D floats representing every province and Azad Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan regions. Two compartments are dedicated to highlight the sacrifices rendered by the armed forces. The train would conclude its journey in Karachi on September 11.
