Coordinate efforts needed to eliminate dengue

RAWALPINDI: Chances of breeding of dengue mosquitoes have increased due to unexpected high rainfall; therefore, all government departments should get ready to tackle disease according to their SOPs. These views were expressed by Provincial Minister for Labour and Manpower Raja Ashfaq Sarwar while presiding over the dengue review meeting here at the Commissioner Office.He said all government departments should learn from the experiences of previous years and work in close coordination to fight dengue.  Negligence on the part of any department will be not tolerated.Raja Ashfaq Sarwar said it’s time that citizens clean dengue breeding places in their surrounding areas, and the government departments should work on a war footing, otherwise dengue can emerge again this year. He said administrations of Islamabad and Rawalpindi should work in close coordination and especially focus on the boundary areas of the twin cities.Adviser to CM on Health Khwaja Salman Rafique said every dengue suspect case should be treated to eliminate the disease. He said proper training of GPS (general practitioners) should be conducted and it should be ensured that all private hospitals have facilities like public hospitals to tackle dengue patients.Commissioner Rawalpindi Zahid Saeed said all government departments had made proper planning in February and March to tackle dengue, and now it’s time to implement this strategy. MNA Malik Abrar, Asia Naz Tanooli, Tahira Aurangzeb, MPAs Raja Hanif Advocate, Chaudhry Sarfraz Afzal, Raja Mohammad Ali, Zaibun Nisa Awan and Shaukat Bhatti, PML-N leaders Dr Jamal Nasir and Malik Shakil Awan, DCO Sajid Zafar Dall, and concerning officials of health, education, environment, agriculture and other departments were also present on the occasion.
