NIM officers’ delegation from Quetta visits AIOU




ISLAMABAD: A group of mid-career officers from the National Institute of Management (NIM), Quetta, visited Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) to acquaint themselves with the working of the varsity and its contribution to the education sector through promoting distant learning. During their two-hour stay, group members took a round of various AIOU departments, including library, Centre for Instructional Design and Institute of Educational Technology. Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Ali Asghar Chishti briefed the delegation about recent initiatives taken by the university to provide best possible education to the people on their doorstep through distance learning system. He said that greater emphasis was being laid on carrying out educational activities in neglected regions of Balochistan. Dr Chishti further said that the AIOU was also in process of increasing the number of study and examination centres in far-flung areas especially to facilitate females. NIM Director General Nazar Muhammad Kakar said that the delegation was highly impressed by the university’s leading role in the education sector.  He said that the visiting officers have wished to work as ambassadors of the AIOU in their respective districts.
